The upgraded Nissan Hardbody range made its local debut earlier this year. The range has now been further expanded with the addition of 2.5-litre turbo diesel workhorse bakkies – the most powerful in its class.
There are now five diesel workhorse models on offer including a 4x4 Single Cab and a Double Cab variant. The 2.5 TDi Long Wheel Base Double Cab is the only Workhorse Double Cab available in this segment and offers incredible versatility and affordability for business owners and entrepreneurs.

Powered by a 2.5-litre common rail diesel engine, 2.5TDi produces an unrivalled power output of 98kW at an engine speed of 3 600rpm and offers an impressive torque peak of 304Nm at just 2 000rpm. The second-generation Common Rail System with 1800 bar injection results in lower emissions and reduced Noise, Vibration and Harshness.
“The diesel engines produce cleaner firing for smoother acceleration and drivability, as well as better all-round performance and fuel efficiency, so you can look forward to a more comfortable ride, with less noise and reduced wear and tear that will also result in reduced maintenance costs,” adds Baard.
Not only does it boast the most powerful engine specification but it also boasts great value for money and versatility thanks to its best in class payload capacity and comprehensive list of comfort and safety features.
The 2.5TDi LWB is available in three specification grades the Standard, S and SE class. The S boasts 15” wheels, a tubular rear bumper and a diff-lock in addition to the standard specification of the vehicle while the SE benefits from 15” wheels, tubular rear bumper, diff-lock, air conditioning and dual airbags.
Other comfort features available include power steering, a dashboard glovebox, and reading lamps. A new dashboard layout, introduced in other derivatives earlier this year, incorporates a cigarette lighter, dual trip meters, digital clock and low fuel warning light. These features are standard throughout the range.
Safety is also one of the standout features of the Hardbody Workhorse range where all the S, SE and 4x4 models offer dual airbags as standard safety equipment.
All models are equipped with collapsible steering columns, side impact protection bars, integrated front crumple zones. A steel reinforced ladder frame chassis provides additional strength while side door intrusion bars add further protection to occupants in the event of an accident. Toughened suspension and fade resistant shock absorbers provide safe, steady driving with all loads on all roads.
The front and rear axles incorporate a rugged independent front suspension and heavy duty rear leaf spring suspension ensuring that the Hardbody can handle the most demanding loads and terrain.
